Digital scholarship is the use of digital means to preserve and document historical happenings or documents for the purpose of scholarly or research use. In my opinion, what makes digital scholarship actual “scholarship” as opposed to the social media that dominates the modern age is the fact that it is used for a scholarly purpose and as a learning tool. It is used in conjunction with actual scholarly disciplines. Although what actually consists of digital scholarship and its relevance as a field in the academic world is a subject hotly debated by academics and historians alike, I think it’s safe to see that digital scholarship has done a lot to advance the humanities. Because of digital scholarship, many of the fields in the humanities have been enriched.
